Don't lose democracy

There is a push in The Australian and elsewhere to not lose so much good that has been achieved in the past through current short-sighted actions.  They are intelligent and articulate but need to join the dots that are "outside their box".

JANET ALBRECHTSEN:

  • No one has the wisdom of Solomon or the prophetic powers of Apollo. But finally, this past week, many more people are publicly asking if the cure is worse than the disease.

  • We need more of this intellectual curiosity instead of joining the cheer squad for the Morrison government or the more hysterical Canberra press bubble.

  • It means probing government decisions, checking herd mentalities, raising differences between expert advice, and understanding that bureaucrats advising governments about the current economic responses to COVID-19 never lose their jobs in a crisis. We should not accept medical advice as the sole source of truth either.

  • Not only is it both contestable and contested, but doctors have a laser-like focus on medical issues and have little or no knowledge of, and sometimes not much interest in, the social, economic or cultural consequences of their advice.

I DO NOT ACCEPT CRITICISM OF THE MEDICOS WHO ARE FACING HELL AND WORKING THEIR BUTTS OFF, COALESCING, WHICH THE AUSTRALIAN ECONOMY NEEDS BUT DOES NOT HAVE.

CHRIS KENNY:

  • Journalists whose job it is to clearly communicate news and information have been more intent on critiquing the government’s communications, second-guessing expert advice, nitpicking complex responses, overlooking personal responsibility and raising fears. It is almost beyond belief that adults living through a worldwide dilemma as severe as this would ... (MISS)  attempting to explain public responsibilities and how to exercise them.

  • The scale of the human cost, medically and economically, dwarfs any of that, and the danger is that the political/media class will help to foster confusion and alarm.

  • People discussing options, sharing items and ideas, and bunkering down for what they know will be an extremely tough period: this doesn’t generate media reports but it happens to be the reality around us. This is the history we need to forge — a stoic and innovative nation withstanding a crisis for the ages thanks to co-operative federal leadership and a cohesive society.

  • Let’s just hope it isn’t undermined by the delinquency of our political/media class.

FAT CHANCE, JANET & CHRIS, UNLESS YOU AND ALL THERE REALISE THEY HAVE MISSED THE REAL MALENOMIC DRIVERS OF DISINTEGRATION.

Morrison’s marketing instincts finally have him denying he is a denier! He has proceeded with bushfire “royal commission” (escapist) slogans, having opposed the one into the bankers which revealed systemic wrongdoing - there are four ex-bankers who have done most of the damage to NSW.

He has added his fundamentalist Christian fatalism plus “do I look like I’m holding a hose?” sarcasm.

He has been dragged kicking and screaming into Corona commonsense but without addressing his moral and economic failings.

That has been a consistent theme of these websites except for the additional big twist:  intergenerational equity & sustainability are being wrecked by excessive debt, congestion and linked unaffordability associated with unproductive asset investments, incompetent engineering, and cronyism.

No Federal or State minister or agency, or major journalist, will consider the above ideas and savings which come from this analyst's work on EDDINGTON BEDROCK: from Christie to Greiner to Gibbons.

They do steal what they want to, being moral cretins.

The significance is that the planning stench, the managerial anarchy, the corruption, imperil the handling of rorts, bushfires and COVID-19.

THEY ARE SLICES OF A BIG PIE CALLED RULE OF LAW & DUE DILIGENCE.

THE COOK WAS THROWN OUT AFTER THE PIE WAS DELIVERED AND THE MANIAC DOING THE CUTTING SEEMS TO BE WOBBLY ON HIS FEET.

Frydenberg was caught-up in the Reserve Bank’s calls for “big projects, fast”. Morrison stomped on Frydenberg and Dr Lowe, the Governor of the Reserve Bank, but then was caught for gross inaction.

The Governor’s negative role was central: he had long urged gross spending as stimulus and resisted the accepted logic - poor projects take energy away from productive investments, while resource demands arising from waste impose costs elsewhere in the economy.

He specifically endorsed on the ABC’S Insiders the “$100 billion over 10 years” fraud which is discussed later. Morrison’s 2018 and 2019 packages assume that “pipeline’s” validity. Eddington’s “rigorous and systematic” is what is missing from Morrison’s, Frydenberg’s and Lowe’s skill sets.

The Morrison mindset started as a profligate, but he has pinched my logic and progressively reverted to wasting less money on digging holes and instead offering macro-economic, unfocussed stimuli. That process went the way shown on the adjacent page.

This was confusion built on economic illiteracy. Simple lessons from Rudd were forgotten.  No benefit/cost calculations or Performance Indicators were prepared or used.  Morrison increased the moral turpitude of plagiarism.

Critical issue: continue of infrastructure planning waste,

Phase 4 of Corona Response

Impediment 1 in Risk Matrix:

Barriers to the improvement of national and regional productivity, employment and community sustainability

Past poor practice is being repeated already, with Ministerial interference and journalistic naivete aplenty  e.g. Shane Wright, Infrastructure rebuild to form part of post-virus recovery plan (SMH May 7 ’20)

  • Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has pushed back the federal budget, expected to show a deficit of more than $60 billion …. He and senior ministers are working on a pandemic economic recovery plan that will include policy reforms. (He) said infrastructure will have to be a major element of that plan, as it will provide a near-term boost to the jobs market. He said on top of the government's existing 10-year infrastructure program there would be strong demand for new projects to help employ people who may have lost their jobs in other sectors "[It] includes infrastructure spending, keeping that 10-year, $100 billion pipeline [of works] going because we've got to pick up that aggregate demand that may have fallen in other areas," he said.
